25 September 2020:
Due to the increasing number of Corona infections in Austria, the organisers of BUCH WIEN have now announced the cancellation of the 2020 edition of BUCH WIEN.
„Ohne mich kann Wien leben. Ich kann ohne Wien nicht leben, und auch nicht ohne Bücher.“ "Vienna can live without me. However, I can't live without Vienna, or without books." Juri Andruchowytsch
From 11 - 15th November 2020 the Austrian capital Vienna will once again welcome book lovers and bibliophiles. With over 300 lectures, discussions, performances – and an International Book Fair – “Buch Wien” will be the greatest Austrian book festival and one of the most important bookish events in Europe.
Antiquarian booksellers take part each year in BUCH WIEN with a collective stand, showing rare and fine books from all centuries. All booksellers are members of the Austrian Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association (VdAÖ) and affiliates to the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB). Guided tours will show book fair visitors the most beautiful books and manuscripts on display, while bookbinders and book artists demonstrate bookbinding and restoration techniques. At the collective stand of the antiquarian booksellers, visitors can bring their "treasures" and ask for an appraisal to understand and learn about the value of the books.
Michael Steinbach, President of the Austrian Booksellers Association: "The experience of holding an old, rare book in your hands cannot be replaced by anything."
If you wish to receive more information about the fair or would like to exhibit, please contact Michael Steinbach by Email.
